The many songs that Deanna Durbin performed in all 21 movies certainly made her an extremely popular actress. She sang current tunes of the day and also classics from the great operas. Many excellent composers provided Deanna with wonderful music and lyrics. Cool

One of the great music/lyric teams of the 20th century were Jimmy McHugh (1894-1969) and Harold Adamson (1906-1980) who wrote a number of songs for Deanna Durbin movies.

Jimmy McHugh wrote the music for over 270 songs in his career and Harold Adamson was inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 1972.

Here is a list of the songs they wrote for these Deanna Durbin movies:

The German born Gus Kahn (1886-1941) wrote the lyrics to a number of songs for Deanna Durbin to perform in her movies.

In THREE SMART GIRLS Gus Kahn worked with Bronislaw Kaper & Walter Jurmann who wrote the music for these songs:

My Heart Is Singing
Someone To Care For Me

Jerome Kern (1885-1945) and E.Y. Harburg (1896-1981) wrote the music and words for the songs in the movie CAN'T HELP SINGING.

These songs were performed by Deanna Durbin:

Emmerich Kalman (1882-1953) composed the music for Love's Own Sweet Song performed by Deanna Durbin in I'LL BE YOURS. The Sari Waltz is from the 1912 Emmerich Kalman operetta DER ZIGEUNERPRIMAS. It is also known as the Dorfkinder Waltz. Sari was the name of the operetta's 1914 Broadway production which was also revived in 1930.
